AUGUST 16: 1st Annual Hollywood Dance and Talent Show - 2:00p to 6:00p, Red Oak Ballroom, 2525 West Anderson Lane, Austin, TX 78757. (inside Northcross Mall) DSACT is planning an awesome talent show at this years 1st Annual DSACT Hollywood Talent Show & Dance.  We need talented children, teens and adults to fill the program! AUGUST 23: Kindergarten Round-Up: (Ages 0-6) - 9:00a - 2:30p, Easter Seals Wrangler Room, 1611 Headway Circle, Building 2, Austin, TX 78754. This seminar is a must for parents of children aged 6 and under.  The day will be kicked off by a presentation from self-advocate Don Rettberg, who was reading before Kindergarten and included at a time when inclusion wasn’t the norm.  He will be followed by a Special Education 101 session – everything you need to know to get the best possible start in public school.  You will be armed with resources from DSACT, like the all-new Joint DSACT/ AISD Educator Manual.  Finally, you will have the opportunity to ask questions of experienced parents who have been there! OCTOBER 19: 9th Annual Buddy Walk- 12:00p - 4:00p, The Buddy Walk™, which will be held at at Reunion Ranch in Georgetown, Texas, was established by the National Down Syndrome Society (NDSS) to promote acceptance and inclusion of people with Down syndrome and to celebrate Down Syndrome Awareness Month in October. It has evolved into the single largest awareness vehicle for Down syndrome in the world.   Round up your family, neighbors, co-workers, and friends and join us for the 1K walk and day of celebration and fun!

Buddy Cruise


FRIENDS-Support Inc. presents a very special event: an exclusive Down Syndrome awareness cruise on board Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines’ “Sovereign of the Seas.”

The 3-night Bahamian cruise will depart Port Canaveral, FL on October 17, 2008. The event is designed to provide an opportunity for families from across America to come together and bring awareness to one of the most frequently occurring chromosomal deviations, as well as promote inclusion for individuals with Down syndrome.

Special guests include: Sujeet Desai and Emily Perl Kingley to keynote the Buddy Cruise.
