AUGUST 23: Kindergarten Round-Up: (Ages 0-6) - 9:00a - 2:30p, Easter Seals Wrangler Room, 1611 Headway Circle, Building 2, Austin, TX 78754. This seminar is a must for parents of children aged 6 and under.  The day will be kicked off by a presentation from self-advocate Don Rettberg, who was reading before Kindergarten and included at a time when inclusion wasn’t the norm.  He will be followed by a Special Education 101 session – everything you need to know to get the best possible start in public school.  You will be armed with resources from DSACT, like the all-new Joint DSACT/ AISD Educator Manual.  Finally, you will have the opportunity to ask questions of experienced parents who have been there! OCTOBER 19: 9th Annual Buddy Walk- 12:00p - 4:00p, The Buddy Walk™, which will be held at at Reunion Ranch in Georgetown, Texas, was established by the National Down Syndrome Society (NDSS) to promote acceptance and inclusion of people with Down syndrome and to celebrate Down Syndrome Awareness Month in October. It has evolved into the single largest awareness vehicle for Down syndrome in the world.   Round up your family, neighbors, co-workers, and friends and join us for the 1K walk and day of celebration and fun!
